A Doctor in the house
Hooray! On Friday, I sucessfully defended my dissertation, "Assessment of Mass Balance of Glaciers From Small Tropical Glaciers to the Large Ice Sheet of Greenland."
I intend to publish at least three papers from this research, two of which I have been asked to publish for a couple of years now. I'm also working on a book chapter with my colleagues at GLIMS.
Congratulations!
I always felt bad that I didn't help out with Quelccaya after we talked and I was going to... rough time of life, blah blah blah... but I'm gald to see that it's finally come to a close. :)

Don't feel bad. I've been a student for a long time and have had to leave a lot of projects on the back burner. Now it's time to move them to the front again! That's exciting.
I hope you're doing well -- still back in the northern hemisphere?

Haha, that's what I get for not following up on my comments, whoops.
Yep! I'm in Colorado and working for JILA back on campus. I'm doing desktop / network support for them and it's a really incredible job. In February I bought a house in Longmont. It's a big adjustment -- owning a house -- but knowing my rent is going somewhere instead of a black hole is pretty cool. :)
A house in Longmont?! That's great. You'll definitely make a pretty penny on it if you can hold on to it for a while. Congratulations. We should talk soon by email or phone. Cheers!
