Jim Hansen should be widely applauded

Jim HansenI am surprised that I haven't seen more applause from the climate community for Dr. James Hansen, a climate change expert working for NASA who the government has tried to silence. According to Al Gore's speech:

[O]ne of the leading scientific experts on global warming in NASA has been ordered not to talk to members of the press and to keep a careful log of everyone he meets with so that the Executive Branch can monitor and control his discussions of global warming.

But last month, Jim Hansen, director of the NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, said that officials at NASA headquarters had ordered the staff to review all of his future lectures, papers, web site postings, and requests for interviews from journalists.

I heartily applaud his assertion of his authority and freedom to present the results of his work to any audience, in any forum or media, and for standing up for his rights. Where is the rest of the scientific community here?

Thanks for your efforts, Jim!
