Credit card-sized device converts vegetable oil to biodiesel almost instantly
A new device being developed by Goran Jovanovic at Oregon State and the Oregon Nanoscience and Microtechnologies Institute (ONAMI) converts vegetable oil directly to biodiesel almost instantly. This has tremendous implications to several industries. Farmers and restaurant owners, for example, can now process their own fuel from their own vegetable oils without having to ship the oil to a seperate processor. Jovanovic says that using these microreactors, biodiesel could be produced between 10 and 100 times faster than traditional methods. See the article from OSU.
